Temecula valley is famous for the many fine local wineries and many hot air balloons. This cook book is a wonderful compilation of recipes from visitors and local's, many with contributor's names and home town. Advertisements encompass the area business including Hemet, Murrieta, Winchester, Nuevo and of course,Temecula. The appendix is full of extras with the usual "How to remove stains" but adding others rarely seen: an "Everyday Herb Guide" table; "Quantities to Serve 100 People"; "Parents Glossary of Kids' Kitchen Terms", ie - Leftovers=Gross. "Where to look in the Bible" and "Attitude Adjuster." Sections are the usual fare of appetizer, breads, salads, vegetables main dishes, cookies, pies, candy, deserts, candy with the addition of microwave and preserving and an interesting "grab bag' section. The recipes however vary greatly: Cheese Pancakes, multiple entries for "Cowboy Beans," Indian Summer Bake, Boiled Leg of Mutton with Caper Sauce, many fried, broiled, baked fish dishes, Larded Stuffed Partridge, Sweet and Sour Rabbit, Lazy Dais Cake, Oven-dried Jerky, No Salt Blend, Wild Onion & Eggs etc. The index is well laid out and easy to use. Condition: the boards are scuffed and lightly worn, the spine head has a now repaired closed tear and there is a snag tear on the top edge. Interior is clean, note section is unused.
