San Rafael, CA: [Frank C. Burns Florists], 1923. 8vo. [8 pp (unpaginated).], 2 colour plates, 1 black & white photo illust. Textured printed softcovers, decorative cover art, & dark brown lettering (minor soiling), still VG- copy, w/ former ownership marking on front cover partially excised. First edition, thus, of this scarce annual catalogue issued by F.C. Burns in San Rafael, CA who were best known for their “Oriole,” a 1922 prizewinner with a fine colour plate included, and were priced at $ 5.00 each in 1923. Also Burns (1893-1979), a British-American florist, rode the Dahlia boom after the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition, and by the mid-1920s had established a Dahlia and Delphinium nursery for tourists, and sold souvenir postcards as well.
