Top staining somewhat faded, former owner's name embossed on front fly leaf, else fine in price-clipped dust jacket lightly toned on the rear cover and lightly rubbed at top corner of front cover. Bill Gunnarson, a young California lawyer, is hired to clear a nurse's name from accusations of theft. What begins as a case involving serial burglaries quickly becomes increasingly complex as murder and kidnapping are added into the mix ... all of which are tied to ill-fated relationships and family dysfunctions years in the making. A handsome copy with none of the usual fading to the mustard yellow of the spine panel. Housed in a cloth slipcase.
Synopsis
Ross Macdonald’s real name was Kenneth Millar. Born near San Francisco in 1915 and raised in Ontario, Millar returned to the U.S. as a young man and published his first novel in 1944. He served as the president of the Mystery Writers of America and was awarded their Grand Master Award as well as the Mystery Writers of Great Britain's Gold Dagger Award. He died in 1983.
