About This Item
London: The Fanfrolico Press, 1930. Signed limited edition of this anthology of verse. Octavo, original half cloth over patterned boards. One of 110 copies signed by the author on the colophon, this is number 63. In near fine condition. Particularly known for his verse dramas, English poet and playwright Gordon Bottomley began writing poetry in the 1890s and was influenced by the Romantic poets, Rossetti and Algernon Swinburne. The poems collected here "were written to be spoken before, between, and after a series of choric plays (The Singing Sands, Towie Castle, Ardvorlich's Wife) when they had their first performance in Mr. John Masefield's garden-theatre at The Boar's Hill Festival of Spoken Poetry in 1929." (Author's Note).
