About This Item

London, Victor Gollancz, 1992-98. . First editions, second and third signed by the author on the title-page; 3 vols, 8vo; contemporary gift-inscription to half-title of third title; publisher's cloth, illustrated dust-jackets, minimal rubbing to extremities, otherwise a fine group.
Three of Hornby's major works, all dealing with human foibles and obsessions; from the author's autobiographical football obsession in Fever Pitch, the neurotic record collector in High Fidelity (the author's first novel) and the awkward adolescent's friendship with an immature thirty-something in About a Boy. All three titles were adapted for the big screen.

A famous account of growing up to be a fanatical football supporter. Told through a series of match reports, FEVER PITCH has enjoyed enormous critical and commercial success since it was first published in 1992. It has helped to create a new kind ofsports writing, and established Hornby as one of the finest writers of his generation.
