Osborn (1857-1935) was a zoologist and paleontologist who served as curator of vertebrate paleontology at the American Museum of Natural History (1891-1910) and president of the Museum (1910-33). He is credited with revolutionizing museum displays and teaching while advancing the field of paleontology in the eye of the public. This work presents a detailed bibliography of Dr. Osborn's work, as well as a thoughtful statement of his philosophy of scientific research. Presentation copy, inscribed by Osborn on the front flyleaf, with a printed compliments card laid in. Osborn also wrote the recipient's name on the front panel of the dust jacket. Octavo. The dust jacket is a touch browned, more so along the spine and folds, with an occasional hint of edgewear; otherwise very good.
