(Lisbon: Edição da Revista d'Aquém e d'Além Mar, ca. 1962). 222 x 158 mm; saddle-stitched pictorial card wrappers; pp. 32; photographs; cartoon illustration; advertisements. Portuguese text. Pale brown stain to fore-edge; trace of soiling to lower cover, adjacent to staple. Very good condition. A remarkable piece of footballing ephemera, celebrating the career of the Benfica and Portugal striker José Águas, who was born in Lobito, Angola, and started his career playing for the local side Lusitano do Lobito. In 1950, Águas moved to SL Benfica, going on to win the Superliga five times with the club, and the European Cup twice. He played for Portugal on twenty-five occasions, scoring eleven times, though he was unfortunate never to display his talents on the World Cup stage, as another Portuguese legend of African extraction, Eusebio, did in 1966. Águas was the father of another Portuguese star, Rui Águas, who also played for Benfica and Portugal. .
