Newark, Ohio: Fire Lands Historical Society, 1882. This publication is a gem for anyone interested in Ohioana and/or genealogy. There are many articles here, but the best is the biographical section which offers bios of pioneers of the Fire Lands. The first article in this issue is rather an anomaly --The Mystery of Atlantis by S.A. Wildman. It's the only one which doesn't discuss the Fire Lands. The second one gets the ball rolling with Second Historical Period of the Fire Lands by Clark Wagoner. The rest are as follows: The Jurisprudence and Judicial Courts of the Fire Lands in the Education of the Populations by Hon. j.R. Osborn; The Four Pioneers --Stone Lane, Root and Watson; A Romance of the Great Rebellion -- A Waif of History; Reminiscences of the War of 1812; The Legend of Fort Avery and more. Surnames from bios are these:Rev.Alfred Newton, John Seymour, Joseph M. Root, John Tifft, Dr. William F. Kittredge, Dr. George Griswold Baker, Mrs. Mary A. Baker, Mrs. Charlotte Merry, Carhaine Gallup, Shepherd Patrick, Phebe Williamson, Oran Rowland, Henry Adams and James White, Jame Arnold, Rachel Andrews, Samuel Louis, Daniel Mallory and more. Other surnames are Thompson, McCurdy, Knapp, Vredenburgh, Minuse, Sherman, Dibble, Sears, Smith, Todd, Fay, Wilcox, Wilcoxson, Husted, Burt, Chapin, Beverstock, Colton, Punderson and still more. Magazine measures 6-1/4" x 9-1/4 and has 166 pages.. New Series Volume I. Soft Cover. Very Good.
