The First UK printing published by Doubleday, London in 1995. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. A minuscule rub to the rear upper spine fold and to the lower front cover edge otherwise the book is in excellent condition. The binding remains very tight. A neat penned date ('Christmas 1997') to the upper front end end paper. The laminated boards remain very bright and there is NO fading of the yellow lettering to the spine which is commonly encountered. The book has been signed (without dedication) by Philip Pullman to the title page. Profusely illustrated throughout in B/W by Nick Harris. No wrapper as issued. The book is protected in a loose archival Mylar cover One of the scarcest Pullman titles with most copies entering the library system.
