A simple cut-away diagram shows the many compartments on both the Sea Witch and the Nautilus. Author Captain J B Icenhower was commanding officer on several submarines during World War II, earning several medals. This is volume number 36 in the First Book series. Note: the only date listed is the original copyright date; no specific printing date given for this later (4th) printing.

The author acknowledged the help with the manuscript provided by Captain Chester W. Nimitz, Jr. and Heinrich Heep. Captain (later Admiral Joseph B. Icenhower was the author. Joseph Bryan Icenhower (1913-1994) commanded a submarine during WWII. On 25 Oct 1944 USS Jallao (Lt.Cdr. J.B. Icenhower) torpedoed and sank the Japanese light cruiser Tama east of Luzon Strait. On 11 Aug 1945 USS Jallao (Lt.Cdr. J.B. Icenhower) torpedoed and sank the Japanese merchant cargo ship Teihoku Maru in the Sea of Japan.
