Here Drummond provides a practical guide to botany, with an index to the rear to assist in finding the information you seek. To the preface Drummond notes that this intention of this work has been to 'unite the technicalities of Botany a considerable share of interesting or entertaining information on many parts of the vegetable kingdom'. In a fine calf binding. James Lawson Drummond was an Irish physician, naturalist and botanist. Following a long career as a surgeon in the Royal Navy Drummond studied medicine in Edinburgh. Later in his career he became the Professor of Botany at the Belfast Academical Institution. A charming, and informative guide for the amateur and professional gardener alike. Condition: In a full calf binding. Externally, smart with light sheflwear to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. The occasional light marks to boards. Evidence of bookplate removal to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just the occasional spots to pages. Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed.
