London: Chapman & Hall, 1935. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Edited and Illustrated by The Hon. Theodora Benson. First UK Edition. Black cloth spine stamped in silver, silverish patterned boards, green topstain. Minor rubbing to spine tips; shelf wear to lower edges of boards; small bruise to upper outer corners of covers showing slightly in the text; topstain age-darkened, sunned; small soil spots to top margin of pp 160-61; VG otherwise. In the RARE price-clipped D/W which is flecked in silver has tanning to the spine with rubbing and short tears to spine tips; corner chips to head of spine and upper inner corners of panels; rubbing to folds; old internal tape repairs to short edge tears; about VG otherwise, all printing save the flap price intact. 18 illustrations by Ms Benson, who solicited from a number of notables their initial experiences in some aspect of their lives. Includes important contributions by EVELYN WAUGH and P.G. WODEHOUSE. The Wodehouse contribution (pp 265-79) is: The First Time I Went to New York, which has its first publication here (later collected in THE WEEKEND WODEHOUSE). McIlvaine E14.
