Eyre & Spottiswoode, 1946. Hardcover. Good/Good. 1946. Reprint. 567 pages. Blue dust jacket with black lettering over blue cloth. Clean pages with firm binding. Minimal foxing and tanning to endpapers and page edges. Mild wear and bumping to spine, board edges and corners, with soiling, staining and marking to boards. Minor sunning to spine and board edges. Unclipped dust jacket. Mild wear, tear and chipping to edges and corners. Moderate tanning to spine. Minor soiling to DJ.

Eyre & Spottiswoode, 1950. Hardcover. Good. 1950. Reprinted. 567 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth covered boards with gilt. Black and white illustrations throughout by author. Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. Previous owner's name to front pastedown. Boards have heavy shelf wear with bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces heavily tanned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is dulled but remains brighter on front. Some additional marks and staining to surfaces.

Wrapper now in clear removable protective sleeve. Not price clipped, inscription to free front end paper ' WITH BEST WISHES JOHN INGHAM 20/08/58' no other inscriptions, illustrated by Denys Watkins-Pitchford. Clean copy internally with little wear. Heavy book, will require additional postage outside the UK.
