Lovely story about baron's little son's pet blue rabbit. A couple of very small slight stains to top corner of upper cover, occasional very slight margin mark, no inscriptions. A very good plus copy. First published in 1904, No. 4 in The Humpty Dumpty Books for Children series, 'The prettiest Child Books in the world'. A list of 10 titles is inside the upper cover. Illustrated throughout with decorative head and tail pieces plus frontis and fifteen full page plates, each with a plain paper guard. Neat previous owners 3 line inscription (dated 1876) on the half title. Some minor spotting to a few pages but generally a clean and bright copy in the publishers highly decorative green cloth binding with bevelled edged boards. Elaborate gilt and blind stamped decoration and lettering to the front board. The rear board with a blind stamped decorative panel pattern. Spine fully decorated and lettered in gilt. Off white endpapers. All edges gilt. Some bumping to the extremities and the spine a little dulled but overall a very good copy of this pretty book. A classic piece of decorative Victoriana.
