A folder, 10 1/4 x 8 inches, containing a variety of Northwest Airlines souvenir items, provided free of charge to the airline's passengers, including two booklets. Very good clean condition. Two pockets in the folder contain a variety of Northwest souvenir ephemera including a 20 page color "Air Map and Flight Log" booklet detailing and picturing the airline's flight path across the US between New York City and Seattle, Washington. Of particular interest is the 12 page folded "Flight Schedule" booklet dated January 5, 1948. The front cover of this booklet when opened is titled "Overland to the Orient" and features an engaging pictographic map detailing the airline's cross-U.S.A. flight path, extending, next, east to Anchorage, Alaska and onward to destinations in the Orient including Tokyo, Seoul, Peiping, Shanghai and Manila. The primary equipment used is either the DC-3 or DC-4 aircraft. Also included are "air mail" envelopes and stationery, two color postcards depicting Northwest aircraft and two depicting the flight path between Seattle and Manila. Additional items in an unopened glassine packet include Northwest luggage decals and "Air Mail" labels to affix to envelopes. It represents an uncommon tourist souvenir item, unusual in the completeness of its contents. An uncommon and well-stocked ephemeral item. .
