A charming flower story written and illustrated by Walter Crane. The text is accompanied by forty colour illustrations showing the masque of flowers. Originally published in 1889 this edition is from 1899. Walter Crane is considered to be one of the most influential children's book writers of his generation. He contributed to the child's nursery motif of the late 19th century. This edition includes Cassell's publisher's adverts with a detailed list of other publications. In the original pictorial boards. Bound in a quarter cloth binding. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. Marginal age toning to the boards. Light marks to the rear board. Internally firmly bound.
