First edition, one of 500 numbered copies signed by Penn Jones Jr, inscribed to former owner on limitation page, dated 11/11/1980. 188, [3, index], [1] pp. Original three quarter black leather with blue cloth sides, lettered in gilt. A Fine copy with slightly bumped top edge, slight toning to pages.
Jones was one of the most indefatigable first generation JFK assassination researchers, who ran the Midlothian Mirror newspaper in Texas, which is still in existence today. This first volume of the eventual four volume series was self-funded and published, consisting mostly of intriguing Warren Commission testimony selections (not generally the soporific material that made it into the one-volume Warren Report) with some commentary on Dorothy Kilgallen and a few Texas journalists, all connected to Jack Ruby, who died mysteriously.
