New York: E.P. Dutton, 1921. 8vo size dark green cloth bound hardcover; 362 toned pages with some black and white photographs and drawings. There is a three-page list of illustrations. Professionally rebound for library use in 1985 in heavy green cloth with white titles on the spine. Author James L. Ford was the literary critic of the New York Herald newspaper. Contents include literary sketches of: Lester Wallack Phineas T. Barnum Lillian Russell Pauline Markham Lisa Weber Kate Bateman Weber and Fields Frank R. Stockton Katherine Grey Harry Kernell Fay Templeton Ex-Library with typical treatments; original fep has been clipped to remove bar code and has some notations pages 2-3, 7-12 have tiny spots in the margin, pages 75 has what may be a publishers light ink smear, the first page and page 77 have fingermarks and pages 223-226 are stained; there is a stray pencil mark in the margin of page 47 and page 255. Tacky area on front cover where barcode was removed. The new binding is of high quality and in excellent condition. . Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
