Description:
New York: Rinehart & Company, 1948. First Edition. Original Wraps. Very Good. Advanced Review Copy in self wrappers. A Very Good copy of this scarce edition of Mailer's first novel. Book appears gently read, with concave spine and gentle rubbing to edges of the wraps. Faint odor and mild soiling to book, but no internal markings or major blemishes. A high spot of military literature, the gritty account of a recon platoon scouting an enemy position during WWII. Raoul Walsh directed the 1958 film of the same name starring Aldo Ray, Cliff Robertson and Raymond Massey. Additional photos available upon request. Very Good.

Description:
New York: The Viking Press, 1964. A novel complex, compelling, absurd and realistic, Herzog became a classic almost as soon as it was published in 1964. In it Saul Bellow tells the tale of Moses E. Herzog, a tragically confused intellectual who suffers from the breakup of his second marriage, the general failure of his life and the specter of growing up Jewish in the middle part of the 20th century. He responds to his personal crisis by sending out a series of letters to all kinds of people. The letters in total constitute a thoughtful examination of his own life and that which has occurred around him. What emerges is not always pretty, but serves as gritty foundation for this absorbing novel. "A masterpiece" (The New York Times). Named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 best novels in the English language since Time's founding in 1923.

Thomson from Graham Greene." Publishers dark green cloth bindings with gilt ruling and lettering to the spines and grey endpapers. A fine set of books in very good dustwrappers, designed by Michael Harvey with some toning to the spines and a small amount of rubbing to extremities. Some volumes have a neat previous owner name on the front free endpaper and four of the wrappers nave been neatly price-clipped. A very good set with the added bonus of Greene's signature and inscription in Brighton Rock. Collected essays was issued in 1969, before the rest of the volumes, and is a little larger although the wrapper style is similar so it doesn't look out of place on the shelf with the set. ---- Greene wrote a new introduction to each…

Description:
Scarce. Likely one of just a few published copies of the British edition in existence. Hardcover Near Fine. No DJ. First edition of author's first book. Banned very shortly after publication. Suppressed in England on March 4, 1929. As a result, there is likely only a handful of copies remaining. In fact, the copy in the British Library is one of the 'French' copies published subsequent to the English copies. Sleeveless Errand was ruled obscene at the Bow Street Police Court. All but a few representative copies were ordered to be destroyed. The police had been tipped off about the content by the editor of the Morning Post after they had received a review copy. It was subsequently printed in Paris the same year by Jack Kahane's Obelisk Press. According to one publication, "Sleeveless Errand was probably the most suppressed novel ever published in England; every store containing copies was raided; and a guard stood for a week-end at the window of one store containing one copy, until the owner could be…
