England, 1979 Paperback Very Good+ 11" x 14" framed color photograph of author Barbara Cartland standing in front of a huge and ancient tree planted by Queen Elizabeth I of England, with her autograph below it (Love, Barbara Cartland), and a "Lucky Oak Leaf" from the tree in a see-through custom printed envelope below that Also a typed 5-paragraph note from Barbara Cartland on her personal stationery on rear of framed picture regarding the oak leaf keepsake Also included are three paperback romance novels by Miss Cartland in excellent condition (titles: The Prude and the Prodigal - Bantam, first printing,October, 1980; A Circus for Love - Pan, first printing, 1987; The Ghost Who Fell in Love, Bantam, first printing, 1979) After her death in May of 2000, Dame Barbara Cartland was interred at her private estate in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, under this very tree that had been planted by Queen Elizabeth I Miss Cartland was the world's most prolific novelist who wrote 723 books in her lifetime, of which no less than 644 were romantic novels with worldwide sales of over 1 billion copies and her books were translated into 36 different languages She also wrote historical biographies, 6 autobiographies, theatrical plays and books of advice on life, love, vitamins and cookery In January, 1988, Cartland received the Medaille de Vermeil de la Ville de Paris, the highest honour of the city of Paris, for publishing 25 million books in France She wrote her last book at age 97 and died just shy of her 99th birthday in May of 2000.
