Beautiful tri-color printed pattern on pink paper boards over red buckram spine with gilt type. Some wear to edges of boards. Toning to edges of pages. Text block is mostly clean; some light pencil marking on page 25 and occasional smudging throughout. Very light cracking at start of second signature. Binding is tight. Number 135 of 500 copies. Inscribed by author and signed by illustrator on title page. The charming, tragic story of the lone padre of the deserts should serve most effectively to establish for the average citizen the grand backdrop of history against which a modern commonwealth moves. First Edition and limited to 500 copies, this being 323/500, signed by both author and illustrator in blue ink on title page, 99 pages, comprehensive history of Padre Garces and the formation of Kern County as well as early California. Book is Fine, very clean blue boards with bright silver titles on front board and spine, little toning to endpapers, No previous owner bookplate or writing, Jacket is Very Good, one inch chip out of spine and shallow chip at head into top edge of front panel, corners show some wear, Very bright black paper with illustaration of Padre Garces on fron board, protected in new mtlar sleeve and much nicer than described. Very clean and most presentable copy. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
