About This Item

Westminister, Maryland, U.S.A.: Alfred a Knopf Inc, 2002. 1st Edition 5th or later Printing. Soft cover. Fine. Photo Illustrated. Nice clean unmarked 5th print, 2007. Slight light single spine crease (book nice and square) and light partial bend on back top edge. Attractive, with all of the recipes that Julia demonstrated on her first Public TV series, with a bunch of photos of her in "action"! Fun, practical, and nostalgic!

Synopsis

Julia Child is a native of California and a Smith College graduate. Shortly after the appearance of the book Mastering the Art of French Cooking in 1961, Julia Child began appearing in the public television series The French Chef , which aired for many years all over the United States, and in 1978 the program Julia Child & Company was launched, followed the next year by Julia Child & More Company . In 1968 recipes from her early programs, many of which were drawn from this book, were published in The French Chef Cookbook . In 1975 From Julia Child’s Kitchen was published, followed in 1978 and 1979 by Julia Child & Company and Julia Child & More Company , based on those programs. Also based on television series were the two books— Cooking with Master Chefs and In Julia’s Kitchen with Master Chefs —she wrote in the mid-1990s, as well as Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home , with Jacques Pépin, in 1999. The Way to Cook , her magnum opus, was published in 1989, and in 2000 she gave us Julia’s Kitchen Wisdom , a distillation of her years of cooking experience.

Terms of Sale

That's a Wrap!

All items subject to prior sale. Return within 10 days in same condition for full refund (less postage, if charged) only if not as described. Payment accepted only through Biblio, as well as personal, corporate check or money order. WA res add 8.3% sales tax.

We do not accept returns unless the item is not the one you ordered and is seriously misrepresented. I try to describe any major faults (and many minor ones, which also takes time) of books and dust jackets (if present). While this is not a perfect system, I cannot take the time to take and post photos of all of the books I have for sale. And photos can (and are) at times misleading anyway! We are not responsible for condition of books which are mailed internationally. Customs inspections and potential mishandling and/or damage with this process does not make it possible to guarantee condition (see note below in store description). I do strive to make your book purchase experience a satisfactory one, and will accommodate requests if at all possible on a case by case basis.

About That's a Wrap!

Any orders placed after noon Pacific Time on the day before mailing days will be processed that night.. (If you order at noon on Monday I won't process the order till Wednesday after 5pm because I will have made the "mail run" already) Prices quoted for shipping are for media and priority, and are accurate within the US only and only if the order will fit in a priority envelope or small priority box. Additional shipping cost request will be necessitated by an oversize or overweight item(s).
Why don't we offer "free" shipping? Well, "free" shipping is a nice idea, but there is always a charge, up front or hidden, whether it's included in the book price, or added on. I value the books as they are, and the convenience of ordering them from your home must account for something. I still have to process the order, package the item, and drive a fourteen mile round trip to the Post Office to send it to you (and most of the time it costs more to mail than the quoted price...media minimum is now over $4 for a paperback!..., as well as being charged 15% of the postage up front to "Fees"). Many times I only get an order for a single book that needs a trip to the Post Office, and I mail it anyway. Please consider this in your decision to shop via the internet. It still has to get to you, and other systems are necessarily called into play.
UPS and FedEx are also available, but at a higher rate as they do charge more and it's a separate trip.
Please enjoy your virtual shopping experience, and please don't hesitate to contact me regarding a particular book or want, even one not listed.
While rates are posted, we actually do not mail internationally anymore, and will NOT guarantee the condition of books which are sent through a US based "remailing" service. We have been burned a couple of times and I cannot guarantee that the customs people will treat packages with the care that many need, and will, generally not repack with the care that is required if the package needs to be opened for inspection. Sorry about that, but it has become necessary to make that clear.
Thanks for looking!
