Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout. Previous owner's inscriptions to front pastedown and title page. Annotations and creasing to some pages. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges. Water staining to both boards.

Text of the poem in Swedish, with front matter and glossary at the back in English; appears to be a Swedish-language edition for English-speaking students of Swedish. Illustrated by August Malmstrom and Knut Ekwall. Red cloth with gilt titles and decoration, cloth age-soiled, slightly darkened to spine. Gilt a little dulled at spine, but still clear; sharp and bright to front panel. Spine square. Binding sound. No jacket, if issued. Black and white illustrations throughout, including numerous full page plates. Interior free of marks.
