New York: Orgone Institute Press, 1942. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Reich's magnum opus and arguably the most controversial work in a long and controversial career. In it, Reich returns to an elemental interpretation of Freud's libido theory, introducing the concepts of bions and The Orgone. The translator goes to some lengths to point out that the current work is not simply a translation of Reich's 1927 published work Die Funktion des Orgasmus, but rather an unabridged translation of the original manuscript describing "...the whole development of sex-economy, from psychoanalysis to orgone biophysics..." A particularly fresh copy, uncommon thus. Octavo. Tan cloth boards, lettered in blue on spine and front cover; dustjacket; xxxvi, 368pp. Endpapers evenly darkened, else a bright, Near Fine copy in the original, unclipped dustwrapper, unusually fresh, clean, and free of toning, Very Good to Near Fine.
