ANTIQUES. "Historic Deerfield in Massachusetts is probably the handsomeist - in terms of its architecture and collections - of all the restored museum villages in the Northeast. Its chief glory is the wealth of New England furinture to be found in the houses that front on the Street, a large portion of it having been fashioned in the Connecticut River Valley. The purpose of this volume is to illustrate and bring into print as many as possible of the fine pieces of furniture at Deerfield. While basic information such as histories, woods, and dimensions are given in the captions and text, the pieces are treated as briefly as possible so that more typles can be included. The furniture is illustdrated by major forms - chairs, beds, tables and stands, chests, desks, sideboards, cupboards, clocks, etc. , with the pieces within each category arranged as chronologically or stylistically as possible. " ... Index. Color photo frontispiece along with occasional (maybe as many as 2 dozen) full-color photos scattered throughout the text which is jam-packed with hundreds of b/w photos. .
