GAG Charitable Corporation, 1981. Complete 2 volume set. Fine condition in a Near Fine slipcase. No owner's name or bookplate. Bright, clean, square, tight, and unmarked. Fresh and crisp. Illustrated with a few family photos and reproductions of ancient coins as chapter headings. Autobiography, with attention to the corporate history of the Gerber Goldschmidt Group. The author, George A. Griesbach, co-founded the company in 1920 along with partners Meyer Hirsch Goldschmidt, and Jacob Gerber. At the start, the three traded in a variety of products as manufacturers' representatives from offices in Cape Town, South Africa and Berlin, Germany. Ultimately the firm grew into a $2 billion international holdings company with more than 30 worldwide branches in 22 countries. Appendix, with biographical profiles of people mentioned in the text. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole.
