G. I. JOURNAL Numbers 83-92. Austin Peterson. Blue hard covers, 4to. No publication data. These are original mimeographed radio scripts with hand corrections. (i.e., Rita Hayworth's name is crossed out and Jane Wyman's name is hand written.) Some of them have "Master Copy As Recorded" or "Restricted for Army Use Only." The volume is in good condition with some rubbing along edges of covers. Some browning to pages. Also a little writing to a few pages. Gray-blue publisher’s cloth, yellow & blue lettering on front cover, 40th Infantry Division sunburst badge on front cover (minor rubbing, edgewear, slightly shaken), still VG copy from library of Keith Albert Zilk (1927-2020), Korean War Vet, Company D, 40th Infantry, and photographer with Condit Photo Studio, and later with Jantzen Swimwear. First edition of this very uncommon and well-illustrated unit history of the 40th Infantry Division, from their call-up in California, and shipped-out to Japan for training in March, 1921. The 40th Division was moved into Korea in January, 1952, and relieved the 24th Infantry Division on the Battle Line, including the 160th, 223rd, and 224th Infantry Regiments, where they participated in the battles of Sandbag Castle and Heartbreak Ridge.
