According to the preface; "A few copies..... will be interleaved with writing paper, on which each can note for himself the matter of every hymn, after having studied it with a competent interpreter...." Preface (Page 7): English on opposite pages would have added greatly to the expense of the work; but a few copies for those who conduct the Sabbath services will be interleaved with writing paper, on which each can note for himself the matter of every hymn, after having studied it with a competent interpreter, as he must necessarily do, in order to read it himself, or to have his interpreter read it intelligibly to the congregation. By pursuing this course, he may become in a short time so familiar with the book, as to make his selections as readily as if it were in his own native tongue.
