UK,slim 8vo HB,no dw/dj,1st edn.VG+.Previous ownwers b/w illustrated Ex-Libris bookplate with ink name,pasted to front pastedown.Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered publisher's original, plain maroon cloth boards/covers with blocked single-line bordered edge with blind-tooled title+author to front board,bright,crisp, blocked gilt lettering to spine/ backstrip,rear board/cover,plain and without decoration or tooling. Negligible shelf-wear,bumping, creasing to edges and corners - no nicks,tears,splits or fraying present,plain white eps - slight off-set shadowing to front free endpaper and off-set shadowing to reverse of rear free endpaper and sporadic foxing/spotting to rear pastedown respectively - but both hinges solid and sound with no splits,tears or cracking.Top edges trimmed and toned,fore+lower edges deckled (untrimmed); contents bright,tight - text body virtually foxing-free - but no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - appears unread, apart from my own collation.UK,slim 8vo HB,no dw/dj,vii-viiipp+1- 72pp [paginated] includes author's preface+date,contents list/ table,23 poems,plus [unpaginated] sporadically foxed/spotted half-title,title page,and a dedication to Field-Marshal The Earl Roberts.

Seven of these poems first appeared in the 'Spectator',six in the 'Pall Mall Gazette',five in the old 'St James's Gazette',and one each in the 'United Service Magazine',the 'Academy',the 'Daily Express',the 'Evening News',and 'Oxford Verse'.
At the request of Lieuteneant-Colonel de Winton,"Minden Drums" was set to music as a marching tune for the use of the 1st Battalion of the Hampshire Regiment by the former bandmaster,Mr. H. Pearce.
"Minden Drums" has also been reprinted in the 'Lancashire Fusiliers' Annual' and the journals of the 'Suffolk and Hampshire Regiments',and "Audenarde" in the 'Household Brigade Magazine' and the journal of the 'East Yorkshire Regiment.'
