London: Printed for Subscribers, 1907. Fine Binding. Near Fine. 7.5" by 5". Not Stated. A fine, English translation of this anonymously written French erotic novel attributed to Alfred de Musset. Very scarce. A scarce publication of this work. Illustrated, with a frontispiece and eight plates. All plates are in monochrome with a repeated sepia plate. With the original wraps bound in to the rear. 'Gamiani' was issued anonymously and is believed to have been written by Alfred de Musset and the heroine in this novel is purportedly based on his lover George Sand. Sand was one of the most popular writers of her lifetime, real name Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin.  A bestselling novel in the nineteenth century, the lithographs used for this work have been attributed to Achille Deveria and Octave Tassaert. Limited edition, numbered 57 of 300 copies. A finely bound English translation of this work. In a half calf binding, with cloth covered boards. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional light spots to pages.
