Chicago: R.R. Donnelley & Sons, 1886. First Edition. Octavo (26.5cm.); publisher's limp crimson textured paper-covered boards stamped in black and silver foil, all edges stained yellow, floral endpapers; 187pp.; illus. throughout. Boards a bit rubbed along extremities, contemporary manuscript address cancel on title page, brief pencil notes to sample notebook leaves bound in center, else Very Good and sound. The New York- and Chicago-based dealer's first trade catalog, calling "attention to our excellent facilities for supplying /promptly/ and at /reasonable rates/ all Book Binding Material." With a tannery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the Company chiefly operated out of a main office in Chicago and served as the agents of printing machinery manufactured by companies Hickok and Sheridan, as well as the "Champion Paging and Numbering Machine," and "Burton's Peerless Perforator." Everything in the present catalog is priced and the machinery often depicted in use by both male and female workers. Unlocated in OCLC as of June, 2019, though the NUC notes a holding a U. Michigan. Not in Romaine.
