The Nonesuch Press. London. No Date. 1927. FIRST EDITION. Large oblong 8vo. (10.2 x 7.7 inches). Finely illustrated with line drawing on the title page and 20 full page colour lithographs by Elinor Darwin accompanying the verses of Bernard Darwin. Original beige paper covered boards with wave, fish and border decorations and reproduction of one of the book's illustrations in blue on front cover. A very good, bright and clean copy with small amount of chipping to the top of the spine and minimal rubbing and bumping to the extremities.

Macmillan and Co. London. 1908. EARLY HUGH THOMSON EDITION. 8vo. (7.4 x 5.2 inches). 40 full page line illustrations by Hugh Thomson. Publishers original salmon cloth with decorative floral design to front board and spine in brown, lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Some minor offsetting to blank endpapers but internally clean and bright. Some marking to the rear board but still overall a very good copy. Becoming increasingly difficult to find in collectable condition in the publishers cloth.

Minor rubbing/bumping to spine and corners. Shepherd Boy relaid onto larger paper.

Publisher's brown cloth with gilt-stamped spine and cover titles; gilt-stamped decoration on spine and back cover. Front cover has gilt-stamped decoration as well as decoration in red and blue. Top page edges gilt. Green endpapers. No date of publication; 1898 is the date given in library records for the first two titles. The third title, Les Trois Couleurs, has Charavay, Martin as the publisher indicating that this was published after Mantoux was no longer part of the firm (possibly 1899). The front cover gives H.E. Martin as the publisher, indicating that the three titles may have been issued in one volume slightly later. Constable & Co. Ltd., 1913. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG+. ROBINSON, W Heath. 1st Heath Robinson Illustrated Edition 18.8 x 25.5cm red cloth with a white panel to the centre of the front board and gilt stamped titles and decoration to the front and spine. Top edge red, xii 288 (2) with 16 tipped in coloured plates with captioned tissue guards and 88 black and white illustrations. The boards are clean and bright with some fading to the spine and a little pushing to the spine tips. Internally, there is a gift inscription dated 1916 to the front free endpaper, a small 1 cm bruise to the bottom edge of p176 not affecting the image and with no loss and occasional very light marking. London: Cecil Palmer & Hayward, 1916. Quarto, 77 pages, plus publisher's ads. First Edition, in original brown cloth with pictorial cover and pictorial paper spine label. Four full page color plates by Frank Brangwyn, including frontispiece. Beautifully printed in black with a tan ornamental border on each page. ORIGINAL DUST WRAPPER, repeating the cover design of the book as well as the spine label. The book is pristine and the dust wrapper is nearly so, astonishingly bright and unfaded. A few tiny marginal chips, entirely as issued including the original red price sticker of 7/6. Occasionally it will seem to be far easier to locate a limited edition of a book than the trade edition in pristine condition. Such is the case with this book. A superb copy of a handsome book reflecting the Arts and Crafts period of design.

New York: David McKay, 1919. A fine copy of the first edition in scarce dust wrapper with some soiling and wear. All of the first issue points except gilt titles on the cover. All other points match Nudelman A53. The pictorial pastedown on the front cover is most often found with scratches and other problems. This copy is exceptionally nice.

Newcastle: Emerson Charnely, and Baldwin, Cradock, and Joy, 1820 A good copy of the large paper 1st edition in contemporary half leather binding. This edition was printed on thicker high quality paper. With frontispiece portrait of Thomas Bewick, 4 portraits of Bewick by different engravers, and numerous engravings to illustrate the Fables. Contents: frontispiece; title page with small ink signature to top dated 1824; advertisement; Memoir; Catalogue; portraits; table of contents; select fables - pp1-332. The binding has gilt-lined raised bands to the spine and marbled boards. Page edges lightly marbled. The binding has wear to corners and the top and bottom of the spine but is in very good clean condition. There are some faded areas to the foredge marbling. The original endpapers are present. The preliminaries and the frontispiece are very spotty, and the frontispiece has a small repaired section in the gutter. Fery good, with lightly worn extremities, some rubbing to the marbled boards, minor foxing throughout, one loose plate in vol. 1and two loose plates in Vol. 2. Prev. owner name on front endpaper, is Sutton Fulford, and obviously 19th century. Gilt stamped brown leather, with 5 raised bands, and black spine labels. fore edges also marbled. Originally published in monthly installments, this is the first bound edition. Each volume contains 10 coloured etchings and 120 woodcuts.
