"The Garden Book of Sir Thomas Hanmer now first printed from the MS volume of 1659 under the care of Ivy Elstob with an introduction by Eleanour Sinclair Rohde. Pp. xxxvi, 187. Colour frontispiece, one further b/w plate. Original brown cloth binding with gilt lettering to spine; very good with a little rubbing. Contents good and tight, a little foxing to the head of the title page and last few pages, no inscriptions. A very good copy. 'Sir Thomas Hanmer of Bettisfield, one of the foremost horticulturists of Stuart times, was a close friend of John Evelyn and John Rea, and it was to him that Evelyn turned for advice in making his famous garden at Sayes Court.' .
