About This Item
Groombridge & Sons., London, 1858. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 373 pages (complete). A shabbily genteel copy. Hibberd was the Hessayon of his day! so popular was he. Indeed, "Amateur Gardening", which he founded still exists. Please note that one colour plate (of Calceolaria) at page 71, is missing. The frontispage/s also missing. Blue boards with stamped gilt decoration on the front. The boards have wear, scuffing, marks all about. They are steady, sure. Within, the contents have evidence of eager use throughout. There are age-related and handling marks. The coloured plates are refined. The page edges are trimmed in gilt (agleam). The contents are placid, tidy, clean, clear, convivial, assiduous, assured. A satisfying book for anyone interested in creating a Victorian garden! fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
