New York: Norman W Henley, 1902. Hardbound . 2nd Edition. BINDING/CONDITION: green cloth with gilt spine text; moderate general wear, no markings: Good condition. Features 145 black and white illustrations, including diagrams, simple drawings, technical drawings, and photographs. Originally published in 1900, this is the second edition of 1902. In the preface to this edition, the authors explain that they have corrected the few errors from the previous edition, and have added material regarding the vertical adaptation of this type of construction, the making of cast iron piston rings, and the new electric igniter. The formula for weight of flywheel included in this edition was obtained from Mr E J Stoddard. Subtitle reads: \'\'A practical treatise describing the theory and principles of the action of gas engines of various types and the design and construction of a half horse power gas engine with illustrations of the work in actual progress, together with dimensioned working drawings giving clearly the sizes of the various details. For the student, the scientific investigator, and the amateur mechanic.\'\' 8vo (about 9.25 inches tall) 304 pages + ads. Annotated bibliography, index.
