About This Item

Slightly shaken, with faint spotting and wear to boards; shallow damp-mark at upper margin of half-title; small separation to frontispiece at gutter; Good or better. Auld, a British Army major, was a member of the British Mission sent to the U.S. ahead of America's entry into WW1, to brief military commanders on the new forms of warfare being used in the trenches in Europe. This book grew out of that mission and is one of the earliest accounts for public consumption of the use of poison gas and flamethrowers in battle. Uncommon.
