Green cloth covered boards with black lettering and border on front and spine. Light bumping and scuffing along edges of covers with a bit of creasing to the top and bottom of spine. Light spotting and soiling to covers. Binding tight. Spotting to edges of text block. Pages lightly aged with heavier browning on endpapers and with occasional age spotting. Otherwise pages are clean and unmarked. NOT Ex-library. NO remainder marks. Basis for 1924 silent film of the same name starring Victor McLaglen and Betty Faire. [From What this Book is About] Young Squire Hardcastle, a member of the Corinthian Club, for a wager is driving a flock of geese from London to Brighton.While thus engaged he stops some runaway horses driven by a girl. He waxes communicative and tells her of four wagers hehas made with Lord Barrymoreâthe one to drive the geese, the fourth to marry within a twelvemonth a certain beautiful lady whom he has never seen. "The beautiful lady" turns out to be his confidante, though he does not at first know her identity. A charming romance of olden days.
