Germany: Der Karlsruhe Bote , 1964. 1964 soft cover Edition. AUTHOR SIGNED and INSCRIBED. VERY GOOD. An early volume of poetry by the Pomeranian-born, Canadian author. Lengthy inscription neatly penned in blue ink, on the first blank page is in German, evidently addressed to his dear friend Josef. "mit grosser freudt schribe ich dur, Lieber Josef…. " signed "dein freud Ulrich" and dated "Vancouver ans 6 Sept. 1967." Schaffer also signed his name next to the author photo on the final leaf of the book. No other markings; a clean copy in very good condition. Pages fresh and fine. Firmly bound in wrapper of white gloss paper titled in black and with yellow and black artwork by Schaffer on front. Wrapper lightly shelf rubbed and edge worn, light creasing to corners, but no tears or chips. Book includes 7 abstract illustrations by the author, 4 printed in black, 2 in red and black and a duplicate of the yellow and black cover art. 8 x 11-1/2"; 78 pages. Signed by Author. Soft Cover. Very Good.
