London: Privately Printed for the Author, 1795. 1st Edition . Good Plus. 11.25 x 17.25 inches (28 x 43 cm). Later green cloth binding with leather title label to spine. Boards marked and have bumping to corners, spine rubbed and has slight wear to head with marking. Boards strained at endpaper joints due to the weight of the book. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown endpaper, a few pencilled notes to half title page. Good solid page block. Text has some light foxing and browning, occasional pencilled annotations. A nice clean example of this comprehensive work. List of subscribers totals 414 copies. ESTC: T143286. Overall condition is Good Plus. Front and rear covers detached, some pages loose and laid in. All pages present, hence an invaluable reference and possible binding copy. Published by subscription in 1795. It was dedicated to King George III. Quite scarce in any condition. Rev. William Betham (1749â1839) was an English clergyman and antiquarian, best known for his work on the history of the English Baronetage.
