About This Item
8vo. xvi, 776pp. Folding engraved frontispiece of two world globes; Illustrated with six folding engraved maps (complete). Half deep blue calf, spine gilt, maroon lettering label, gilt, marbled paper sides, edges and end papers.
Light wear to edges and hinges, some aging and soil to the maps, closed tear at a fold on the Africa map and text, but overall a very good copy.
Here you will see the entire southwest coast of North America named California; with Mexico and New Mexico to the east, New Leon to the south, Louisiana taking the greater part of the center, and the United States along the east coast. Corea is shown and, across the sea, Nippon. Africa looks strangely complete, though many of the names in the center of the country are not recognized by this cataloguer.
