Cincinnati: American Masonic Publishing Association, 1872. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Blue covers with gilt front cover battle scene. All edges marbled. Tall 8vo, 432 pages. Attached before the "real" title page is the title, dedication & list of portraits pages of Croffut & Morris's "The Military and Civil History of Connecticut during the War of 1861-65". Was this added to disguise the owners Masonic affiliation? Used as a bookmark in the book is the top of a deposit slip "Deposited with T. L. Watson Private Bankers of Bridgeport, Conn.". The spine covering is missing, the covers are off but present - I don't know if they are from the Masonic history book or were from the Connecticut book. I note that some page corners has been folded over, but otherwise the text & illustrations are VG.

Very Good plus original Condition. 432pp. Brown full calf leather boards, Bumping and minor wear to corners and edges, marbled text block, marbled endpapers, spine with 4 raised bands, bright gold spine title on black morocco label fully intact. Binding tight, pages clean, crisp with minor tanning. Very minor foxing to first three pages otherwise work is completely unmarked. (see Photos). Illustrated with 40 B/W engravings. Translated and compiled from the Masonic histories of Emmanuel Rebold, past Deputy of the Grand Orient of France, President of the Academy of Industrial Sciences, and a member of many philosophic and scientific societies.
