Description:
(London): Nonesuch Press, 1924. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Fine. Quarto, unpaginated. A crisp, clean, very nice copy, about fine, lacking the dust jacket. This is number 19 of 375 limited copies. A stark and lovely woodcut-driven work, which, while not a "wordless novel," clearly anticipates the style of Lynd Ward and his contemporaries. Nash was a well-kown artist, whose unsettling, eerily whimsical landscapes of World War I helped usher modernist trends into British art. His woodcuts in this volume are no less impressive than his canvas work.
