[10], 138, 91, 2-78, 71, 90; [8, tables], 101. [1] pp. 1 vols. 8vo. Bound in full 18th-century panelled calf, with new spine and red leather lettering piece. Very good copy. Bookplates of William Pinkerton (ink signature G.M. Rivington Wilson on bottom), and of Charles Dunlap. Fourth edition. Engraved frontispiece and 4 folding plates. [10], 138, 91, 2-78, 71, 90; [8, tables], 101. [1] pp. 1 vols. 8vo. "Cox's book is well composed, comprehensive, and compact. It fills a space in the not overcrowded list of old English hunting and hawking books and certainly compares favourably with John Ray's additions to the 'Ornithology,' which deal with fowling and hawking" (Schwerdt I, p. 123). As for the angling section, "Nicholas Cox is of the superstitious, astrological, necromantical order of angling writers. He makes us acquainted with divers miraculous streams and unaccountable fishes." (See long note in Westwood & Satchell, pp. 68-69.).
