Gild armorial to front board (Bradfield College). Slight foxing to title page, otherwise in very clean condition throughout. From the private library of Richard Adams, author of Watership Down, with his attractive bookplate to front free endpaper. This book was awarded to Adams in 1938 as a School Prize for natural history. A wonderful association copy, evidence of a keen interest in natural history that lasted a lifetime. Alongside his writing career Adams was an ardent campaigner for animal rights and served as President of the RSPCA in 1982. Overall condition is Very Good.
