"The purpose of this bulletin is to facilitate and encourage the study of military German. To accomplish this end, instructions given German infantry companies, and typical German combat orders, are presented together with notes on the German language." 8vo size brown clothbound hardcover with black titles on the spine and front cover; 376 pages with black and white drawings and photographs This volume includes Section I: the 1939 German language edition of Die Schutzen Companie: Ein handbuch fur den Dientunterricht by Ludwig Quedborner, Uber/Lieutenant. It has black and white drawings and photographs throughout and runs for 290 pages. It is followed by Section II: Information Bulletin 15, MIS 461 Combat Orders in English and German which runs to page 307 and is followed by Section III: Aids to Translation, mostly in English to page 316, followed by: Section IV: Brief Summary of German Grammar in German and English and Beginners Vocabulary (1,000 Words) in German, defined in English finishing on page 376. Please note: the majority of the text in this volume is in German. Page 114 has a fingermark in the margin, page 115 has penciled notations. There is a name, etc written on inside front cover, not well blotted with resultant transfer to fep; there are losses to the top and bottom of front pastedown which may be past insect activity. The back pastedown is firmly intact. There is some tanning or discoloration to inside covers and endpapers. The bottom tips of the last two pages are curled. Lightly bumped head and heel of spine and some light rubbing to covers. Family Historians: the name in the book is John M Phillips, Captain US Army.
