Part of the series of General History in Monographs series, edited by Wilhelm Oncken. This series ran to 45 volumes, although each volume is generally a single work complete in itself. General history in Monographs (Sometimes translated as General History in Single Items) is a series of historical and scientific books, separated into four divisions and then individual works within the divisions. This volume is volume three of the first division, History of Antiquity. With 25 full page plates, three double page plates and a folding map of India. Lacking one plate. Saloman Lefmann was a german philologist and a noted expert on Sanskrit. Condition: In a half morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally, smart with moderate rubbing to extremities and boards. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places. Pages generally bright and clean aside from some age toning to the first and last few pages and lightly to the margins. Overall: VERY GOOD.
