About This Item

Boulder, CO Fred Pruett Books, 1997. Paperback First Edition (1997), unstated. Fine in Wraps: flawless; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome, like-new copy, showing no flaws. Virtually 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 4to. (11 x 8.5 x 0.25 inches). 88 pages. Profusely illustrated with black & white photographs, mostly by the author. Language: English. Weight: 10.5 ounces. First Edition (1997), unstated. Paperback: Pictorial Wraps. Don Baker has put together a handsome book dealing with ghost and near-ghost towns located in the eastern half of Montana. He begins with an in-depth chapter on the influence of the railroads on settlement, and then a short chapter each on homesteading, ethnic communities, pioneer politics, and a couple of poems about places lost to time. Then comes the main part of the book: an alphabetical listing of the towns, from Aldridge to Whitlash. Descriptions of each town and usually a photograph are included (there is usually something still standing in these town worth seeing).
