First Edition (1997), unstated. Paperback: Pictorial Wraps. Don Baker has put together a handsome book dealing with ghost and near-ghost towns located in the eastern half of Montana. He begins with an in-depth chapter on the influence of the railroads on settlement, and then a short chapter each on homesteading, ethnic communities, pioneer politics, and a couple of poems about places lost to time. Then comes the main part of the book: an alphabetical listing of the towns, from Aldridge to Whitlash. Descriptions of each town and usually a photograph are included (there is usually something still standing in these town worth seeing).
