About This Item

California: S. Hammarstrom, 1985. Very Good condition. NOT a library discard. NO owner's name or bookplate. Pages are clean and unmarked. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. The ONLY book about Giants in the English language. According to the Table of Contents, this Third Edition (the latest available] adds over 100 pages (pp. 291 - 392) that are missing from earlier editions. Profusely illustrated with about 200 Giant Schnauzer photographs. Bound in the original white wraps, illustrated with drawings of the author and her dogs on the front and rear covers. From reviews: "Great book written by a true expert in the breed… Her dogs are in practically every bloodline out there now. This isn't a book about grooming but more about research. It's not a book about disease… This is for the collector who wants a piece of history… who's who in the giant schnauzer world… excellent review of the Giant Schanuzer in America. While it tends to focus on breed lines important to Skansen Kennels in particular, it [makes] sense that it does so since the author is the owner of Skansen. Very interesting read and excellent for tracing dogs back through generations." From the rear cover: "As of 1985, [Sylvia Hammarstrom] is the top breeder of Giant Schanuzers worldwide, her dogs having won Best in Show in over eight countries. She has bred, shown and trained Schanuzers for 36 years." -- actually she has done so for more than 70 years as of 2021 - her first champion was when she was only a girl of ten. SEE YOUTUBE video.. Third Edition with additions. Softcover. Very Good condition. Illus. by NOT a library discard. (vii), 392pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.
