Minor water staining to fore edges textblock. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is bright and clear. Boards are bowed. Visible wear and water marks to boards. Clipped jacket. Panels and spine have light edgewear with tears and creases. Visible wear marks to spine and panels.

Gimlet Lends a Hand pictorial dust jacket is in Very Good condition with wear to the extremities and small tape reinforcement to the reverse of the jacket to the top of the spine. The inside flap reads: A Gimlet Book by the First in the Field of Adventure Capt. Johns the Author of Biggles. This is a very attractive and scarce dust jacket. The W.E. Johns Gimlet Lends a Hand original blue binding, with lettering in black to the front board and spine, are in Very Good condition with only slight discolouration, and slight knocks to the corners and to the top and bottom of the spine. W.E. Johns Gimlet Lends a Hand has 189 numbered pages and a one-page advertisement to the end of the book. The pages include the frontispiece and 3 other full page black and white illustrations by Leslie Stead, as per the list of illustrations to the front of the book. The pages are in overall Very Good condition with light and very occasional foxing throughout (not affecting the illustrations).
