Hard cover Folio (15 x 12 in). Original gilt tooled full brown morocco, edges gilt marbled endpapers. Pages complete xxiv + 180, with 250 full-page black and white engravings on card with captioned tissue-guards.Containing two hundred and fifty beautiful engravings selected from the Dore Bible, Milton, Dante's Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso, Atala, Fontaine Fairy Realm, Don Quixote, Baron Munchausen, Croquemitaine with critical essays by Edmund Ollier.Page edges lightly scuffed and rubbed with some small scratches to cover boards - some remedial work done to secure the cover boards and spine, but otherwise good. Card plates bright but some foxing to the outer edges. Some foxing to the later text pages.The plate index is a little tricky to use, but all plates are present with the following corrections:Plate 75 misplaced to p130, plate 91 misplaced to p95.Note: This volume is heavy (38x31x10cm, approx 10kg). Arrangements can be negotiated for the most cost effective method of delivery.

Not in Melzi. No copies located. Apparently unrecorded booklet with text and illustrations produced completely in lithograph. The text reproduces an italic calligraphy that must have been lettered in reverse on stone, or written out on transfer paper before being applied to the lithographic stone. The narrative concerns a lady who is handily juggling simultaneous affairs with a young man and with the young man's father.

Octavo (19cm); viii, 314 pages (misnumbered in last gathering--a point of the first printing), and XVI full page engraved plates, along with several woodcut tables in text. In 18th-century two-tone woodblock decorated paper over boards. Paper label on spine worn and illegible. Spine darkened and faded. Endleaves renewed. Some spots and stains throughout. Bound "alla rustica" in publisher's pastepaper, lettered in manuscript on spine. Pages evenly toned, but an unblemished, unsophisticated copy of a seminal work. References: Gamba, 2150 ("Nella Fisica forma epoca il nome di Beccaria"); La Stampa Reale di Torino, p. 71; Second much-expanded and first illustrated edition of the seminal study of electricity by Giovanni Battista Beccaria, professor of experimental physics at the University of Torino. A little book of gratulatory sonnets, madrigals, and anancreontics written for the occasion of the wedding of Count Cristoforo di Rovero and Countess Zenobia d'Onigo, at the count's villa at San Zenone, near Bassano. The villa was the site of something like a salon, as di Rovero regularly invited collections of notable guests for extended stays in the country. Giuseppe Remondini, the head of the great printing, print-making, paper-decorating, and dyeing concern based in Bassano, was a close friend and frequent guest.
